The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has landed, offering multiple trims for prospective buyers. We took a look at the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SEL model to see how it compares to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV base model. With a $7,000* difference in price, which of these seven-seater models is your favourite?
Performance
All trims are equipped with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, including DOHC and a 16-valve Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-Timing Electronic Control System. This engine delivers 131 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque are offered by both trims. A 20 kWh lithium-ion battery is included in the base model and the SEL trim. The engine’s charging time is 94 minutes. Both models offer Super All-Wheel Control with telescopic, electric power steering, Anti-Lock braking systems, and a Regenerative Braking Innovative Pedal.
Fuel Economy
Both trims offer 9.0L combined fuel efficiency when only using gasoline. City driving is 9.2 L/100 km, and highway driving equates to 8.7 L/100 km. Their EV driving range is 61km, with a total driving range of 687 km. Their fuel tank capacity is 56 litres.
Cargo Space
The cargo volumes are identical for both trims. 362 litres of space can be found behind the third-row seating. The area behind the second row offers 872 litres of space, and the largest cargo space of 1,832 litres is behind the first row of seating.
Interior Design
The base model’s fabric upholstery is upgraded to luxurious leather in the SEL trim. The base model offers lumbar support for the driver’s seat, but you can enjoy eight-way adjustable power settings with memory functions for the driver and passenger seats. The SEL’s steering wheel is covered in leather, and seating includes heating and ventilation settings.
Exterior
The exterior design of both models is very similar, except the 18-inch allow wheels on the base model have been changed to 20-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Both models include a body-colour rear spoiler with LED Stop Light, body-coloured front and rear bumpers, and body-coloured side mirrors with LED turn signals. The SEL trim is equipped with rain-sensing wipers.
Technology
Both trims include a 12.3-inch full digital Driver Display. The base trim has an 8.0-inch Smartphone-Link Display audio with six speakers, while the SEL trim has a 9.0-inch Navigation System with Smartphone-Link. The automatic climate control systems include dual-zone settings for the base model and tri-zone settings for the SEL trim. The SEL model also includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a FAST-Key entry system.
Safety Features
Both trims offer Active Stability Control and an Anti-Theft Alarm System. Advanced dual-stage front airbags and automatic high beams are also included. The SEL model has additional safety features such as the MI-PILOT Assist with Navi-Link Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
