The Mitsubishi RVR is the smallest SUV produced by this Japanese manufacturer. The RVR ES FWD starts at $24,598* and the RVR ES AWC from $26,598*. These small, peppy and comfortable SUVs are ideal city cars as they’re small and manoeuvrable.
Infotainment and Technology Features
The RVR ES has an 8-inch touchscreen display, and the standard audio system has four speakers. Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard, as is a three-month subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio. There are two USB ports and a 12-volt accessory outlet. Other technology features include cruise control, keyless entry and high contract driver gauges.
Exterior Design
The RVR ES has a modern, distinctive profile with stylish daytime running lights. Two chrome accents flank the large grille, leading the eye along the crisp body lines to the rear. With its large glass window, the tailgate sits between beautifully styled tail lamp clusters.
The body colour of the ES extends to the sill, only broken by a black bumper in the centre. The Noir package allows you to drive a blacked-out, very cool-looking RVR. The RVR sits on 16-inch steel wheels with all-season tyres, but the spare is a smaller space-saver wheel.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
The 6-way Driver’s Seat is heated, and the rear seats are split in a 60/40 format. All the seats are upholstered in fabric and provide good support. The driver and front passenger sun visors are equipped with vanity mirrors and helpful map and cabin lights at the front.
Automatic climate control manages the environment in the ES cabin with ease. The RVR ES has 614 litres of cargo space with upright rear seats. Lowering the seats will give 1402 litres of space. There is also a handy light in the cargo section and four cargo tie-down hooks.
Performance Features
The RVR ES uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor, making 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. This motor is paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). In the ES AWC trim, the all-wheel-drive system is selected by pressing a button.
The driver has several options for this trim. They can use FWD only or 4WD Auto, which drives the front wheels but will transfer power to the rear should the car lose traction, or 4WD Lock, which will always send at least 40% of the drive to the rear wheels. This last mode is helpful in sand or snow.
The RVR ES has excellent fuel consumption, with the FWD trim returning 9.7 L/100 km around town and 7.8 L/100km on the highway. The AWC trim consumes slightly more at 10.0 L/100 km in the city and 8.1 L/100km on the road.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The 2024 Mitsubishi RVR was awarded four out of five stars by the NHTSA (in this database, the RVR is listed as the Outlander Sport as this is what it is known as in the US), and from the IIHS, this vehicle received a ‘Good’ rating.
The ES has front, side-impact, front seat-mounted and driver knee airbags, three-point seatbelts and height-adjustable front seatbelts to protect in an accident. The ES also has two braking safety features: the Brake Assist System (BAS) and the Brake Override System (BOS).
The BAS will apply the best braking pressure when an emergency arises, and the BOS will come into action when the accelerator and brake are accidentally pressed together. The BOS will override the accelerator and apply the brake. The ES is also equipped with a rearview camera.
A Fun and Efficient SUV for the City
The Mitsubishi RVR ES is a fun and fuel-efficient SUV perfect for city use. It has perky acceleration and is easily manoeuvred around the city obstacles. The stylish design has stood the test of time and still looks fresh and modern. If you live in the Halifax area, Steele Mitsubishi invites you to come in and take a look at the RVR ES.
