Mitsubishi AWC Overview
The AWC system provides a flexible configuration to adjust the drivetrain according to external conditions. During everyday driving, the system will optimize fuel efficiency, and when conditions are less than ideal, it kicks in more traction through the 4WD for maximum control. An electronically controlled coupling directs power output between the front and rear axles to correct the detected slippage.
Through active stability control, the system keeps track of your desired travel direction and where the vehicle is actually going to correct any differences by applying independent brakes to avoid over-or under-steer situations.
Mitsubishi S-AWC Overview
With the S-AWC, you get even more control as it has an active front differential and active yaw control, which, combined with driving modes, improve overall handling. The way it functions is the active front differential has an internal electronically operated clutch that limits the difference between the right and left wheels to help with cornering when under- or over-steer situations are detected.
The active yaw control function is to monitor steering wheel angle, yaw rate, driving torque, braking pressure and wheel speed to correct excessive slippage on any wheel by utilizing the anti-lock braking system. As a result, you will have better control around corners and improved acceleration on slippery roads.
